About Paul Kosko
I consider this an honor and a privilege to run for public office. I have been in public service for over 39 years. I was born and raised in Jamestown, New York, which is part of the "snow belt" of western New York. I graduated from Jamestown High School in 1979 and 2 years later I graduated from Jamestown Community College with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Accounting with honors. I went on to study at West Virginia University in Corporate Finance. I graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree. After graduating I was hired by the City of Jamestown and I worked as the Principal Account Clerk in the Finance Department of the Data Processing section. After 4 years in the City Administration and working on various city boards, my wife and I decided to explore new opportunities.
Years earlier, my brother relocated to Greensburg as an engineer with West Penn Power at Cabin Hill. My brother spotted a blind ad in the Tribune-Review that fit my experience and background. After visiting Greensburg for a few interviews, I was hired by the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County in the Information Technology Department. I earned my Master's Degree in Business Administration, from Point Park University in 1999. As an OUTSIDER; for over 35.5 years, I have overseen computer operations for the Municipal Authority. I am retired now, running for office to serve YOU!!
Family
Pictured above is my father, Harry Kosko, who we lost in 2008. He served in Japan in 1945 in the US Army. With him as an example, my two brothers and two sisters, and I, was brought up to respect our flag and national anthem. My mother, Barbara Kosko, lives close by with my brother Peter in Kittanning, PA. We are blessed that our family is very close and they have all said, "It’s about time you ran for public office. You're just what we need."
I have been married for 37 years, with three sons, a daughter-in-law, and 4 grandchildren. My wife and I are very fortunate that 1 live in the area. My middle son lives in Michigan as a Mechanical Engineer for the Ford Motor Company, and my youngest son works at Central High School as a Music/Band Teacher in San Angelo, Texas. I want to say that being a grandparent is exactly as they say.......FABULOUS!
Scouting
I have been active in Boy Scouts since I was a young man. I was very fortunate that both of my parents encouraged me to participate in all levels of scouting. I rose to the rank of Eagle Scout and I earned the Bronze, Gold, and Silver Palms. All three of my sons also earned this high honor. I am active with the BSA Westmoreland-Fayette Council and I am an active Vigil member of Wagion Lodge 6 of the BSA Order of the Arrow. If elected I still plan on being active with both groups because I feel the benefits of scouting are important for our youth and our community's future.
Council Commissioner-Westmoreland Fayette Council
I currently serve on the Executive Board of the Westmoreland Fayette Council. I am with my fellow Executive Board Member and friend Attorney David Colecchia from www.LawCare.pro at an Order of the Arrow weekend at BSA Camp Conestoga.
